The results of the contest for journalists on the best coverage in mass media in 2016 of the topic “Refugees: Ordinary People Living Through Extraordinary Times” were summed up. The Contest was held in May—November 2016 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”. 71 materials from 27 representatives of the Belarusian mass media submitted their works for jury's consideration.

VideoconferenceThe video conference «Formation of the culture of inter-ethnic relations among students of vocational training institutions in policultural environment» for pedagogues of vocational institutions was held today on the basis of the Republican Institute of Vocational Training with the support of UNHCR in Belarus and the INA «Evolutio». Approximately 200 pedagogues from all over Belarus took part in the event.

 Today the 6th working meeting on issues of providing aid for Ukrainians was conducted.

Jean Yves Bouchardy, Representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Belarus, delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to all participants for cooperation in solving problems of Ukrainian forced migrants. However Mr. Bourchardy noticed that due to decline in number of persons applying for protection in Belarus such meetings may be conducted less frequently.

#InclusiveBelarus#InclusiveBelarus campaign is ahead is Belarus. This is the United Nations Belarus’ regional campaign aimed at reaching Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities. By Travelling to 12 towns in the course of 7 weeks, the campaign is meant to bring together representatives of international organizations, Governmental, private and civil sectors, as well as vulnerable groups, on the way to a society of inclusion and equal opportunities for all. You can find out more information as well as see the agenda of activities on the site of the campaign.

Moreover, you will be able to see "Belarus #WithRefugees: UNHCR 20 years street exhibition" in all Belarusian regions within the framework of the campaign. What it is like to be a refugee and what it is like to stand with refugees – the UN Refugee Agency tells the stories of displaced people who had to leave everything behind in search of safer future in Belarus.

António GuterresThe General Assembly appointed by acclamation the former Prime Minister of Portugal, António Guterres, as the next United Nations Secretary-General, to succeed Ban Ki-moon. Resolution on his appointment was adopted at the General Assembly meeting by acclamation. According to the document, Guterres is apointed an administrative head of the Organization from January 1, 2016 till December 31, 2021. Read more information here.
