Participants of the seminarOn October, 10 another practical seminar was held for specialists of vocational education institutions “Actual aspects of multicultural education for students of vocational education institutions. Formation of a tolerant attitude towards refugees”. The event was organized jointly by UNHCR in Belarus, INA “Evolutio” and the Republican Institute of Vocational Training for specialists of the vocational training of Vitebsk and Vitebsk region.

This workshop was the sixth in a series of events on formation of a tolerant attitude towards refugees among specialists of vocational education. The seminar was held according to the already developed agenda: in the course of the theoretical part, specialists of the UNHCR Office in Belarus as well as the representative of the Citizenship and Migration Board of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee acquainted the participants with the main aspects of refugee problems in Belarus and in Vitebsk region in particular, and also told about the UNHCR activities at the present stage. Also, in addition to familiarizing with the strategies for creating a tolerant attitude towards refugees through the policultural education of students, participants in the practical part of the seminar had an opportunity to work out a scenario-plan of an educational hour to form a tolerant attitude towards refugees. It is planned that the developed materials will be used in the practical work of specialists.

As a result of the event, participants were awarded with certificates on completion of the workshop.

Thanks for the warm welcome to Vitebsk State Technical College! In addition, it is worth noting that the concert prepared by students of the college, played out dialogues and performances on the theme of tolerance and interethnic communication clearly reflect practical activities of specialists, teachers and psychologists in this field. This means that the activities carried out have their fruits. And this, in turn, confirms the significance of the events conducted.
