Winners of the ContestResults of the Contest of the research papers of students, candidates for a master’s degree, post-graduate students on the issues of refugees and stateless persons, which was held in September – November 2017 by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Non-governmental Association for Scientific Research, Information and Educational Programmes “Evolutio”, were summed up.

Students, candidates for a master’s degree and post-graduates of Belarusian universities involved in researches in the specified areas were invited to participate in the Contest.

The first degree diploma was awarded to: 

• Margarita Zmachinskaya, master student of the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, research paper “Nature strikes back: environmental refugees”;
• Uladzislau Revenka, student of the Faculty of Physical Education of the Belarusian State Pedagogical University named after Maxim Tank, research paper “Coverage of the refugee problem in the mass media of the Republic of Belarus. Comparative analysis”;

The second degree diploma was awarded to:

• Tatsiana Silchenko, student of the Faculty of Law of Brest State University named after A. S. Pushkin, research paper “Stateless persons: the main problems of the legal status and possible ways of solution”;
• Natallia Yanushkevich, student of the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, research paper “Problems of refugees integration and ways of their solution on the example of successful integration models”;
• Iryna Rusetskaya, cadet of the Border Service Institute of the Republic of Belarus, research paper “Awareness about refugee problems”;
• Volha Yurchanka, student of the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Baranovichi State University, research paper “Formation of a tolerant attitude of students and schoolchildren to refugees in the Republic of Belarus”.

The third degree diploma was awarded to:

• Lizaveta Lapitskaya, student of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of Belarusian State Economic University, research paper “The asylum system in the Republic of Belarus as an instrument of integration into the modern society”;
• Anastasiya Ihnatovich, student of the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University, research paper “Improving the international legal framework for the protection of refugee rights: international cooperation for the benefit of the most vulnerable groups of population”;
• Vasilina Akulitskaya, student of the Faculty of Economics and Law of the International University “MITSO” (Vitebsk affiliate), research paper “Migration policy of the European Union in the field of forced migration: experience for the Republic of Belarus”;
• Palina Makatrevich, student of the Faculty of International Economic Relations of Belarusian State Economic University, research paper “Relevant issues of improving the European Union migration policy within the context of the crisis”;
• Veranika Zeliankevich, student of the Faculty of Economics and Law of the International University “MITSO” (Vitebsk affiliate), research paper “German refugee integration model”.  

The awarding ceremony took place on December, 27 at the Faculty of International Relations of Belarusian State University. During the awarding ceremony a documentary film "Refugees of the 21st Century", which was prepared jointly by the "Workshop of Vladimir Bokun" with the INA "Evolutio" with the support of the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus was demonstrated for students of the Faculty of International Relations, as well as for the winners and guests of the ceremony. Then the winners were awarded with diplomas and memorable prizes.
