#IBelong FIRMUN 2018

On November 15-16, in the framework of #IBelong campaign aimed at eradicating statelessness, INA ‘Evolutio’ in collaboration with the UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus conducted a UN Model of Human Rights Council.

The role-playing game was attended by 47 delegates who are the students of leading Belarusian Universities.

Andrey Selivanov, UNHCR Protection Associate Zoya Golovneva and Associate Protection Officer Timofey Solodkov spoke at the opening ceremony. They told the participants about the UNHCR activities in the field of eliminating statelessness and wished productive work at the session.

In the UN Human Rights Council, an intensive discussion arose over the agenda. The debate reached its peak when the committee invited delegations from Myanmar and Bangladesh to deliver a short speech. The delegates proposed three draft resolutions on the agenda, one of which, which suits the majority of the participants, was adopted.

Andrey Selivanov and Program Assistant at the UNHCR Office in Belarus Ekaterina Maslakova congratulated the students on the successful completion of the UN Model and awarded them certificates of participation in the event.

INA ‘Evolutio’, UNHCR Office in the Republic of Belarus and BSU faculty of international relations have organized this event.
